How to Create ISO Management System Efficiency
It is much more efficient and effective if you have a team dedicated to managing all of your company's safety, quality, and environmental documentation. Government permits, relevant legislation, health and safety plans, waste management plans, and now covid19 forms, can all be managed under one program.
An ISO Integrated Management System has the ability to streamline ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, and ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management. Not all companies want to certify to the ISO standard, in which case it is still beneficial to have all of your management plans under one overarching system.
ISO 45001 was issued in March 2018, replacing OHSAS 18001, the world’s former reference for workplace health and safety. Organizations already certified to OHSAS 18001 had three years to comply with the new ISO 45001 standard. This monumental change in industry made way to combine the safety and environmental standards.
HSE professionals and upper management are becoming increasingly aware that a fully Integrated Management System offers not only a competitive advantage in business but also results in:
streamlined procedures and processes,
reduced employee training times and costs,
simplified decision-making,
reductions in time, resources and finances, and
more efficient and cost-effective internal and external audits.
It is clear from the three standards (Quality, Safety, and Environment) that there are many commonalities, so it makes sense to amalgamate the three systems to really get them working to continually improve your organization.
I can work with your management team to create an Integrated Management System, update your current system to a new standard, or prepare you for an external audit of your Environmental, Quality, or Safety Management System.
